Snow Day

Snowball fight!

Sunday night it started snowing and snowing and snowing. It has snowed a couple other times this year but this snow was the real thing. I think they concluded we got about six inches of snow in Winston. Luke was thrilled. Shaun stayed home and shortly after breakfast they headed outside for a lot of fun. Luke said, "look Mama, it's beautiful." It truly was. Before the blanket of snow was disturbed by children, animals, and cars it was a gorgeous sight. The boys had a full morning of sledding, making snow angels, and playing with our neighbors. After a hot chocolate and lunch break we headed back outside. Wyatt stayed in and I went out with Shaun and Luke. We built an "alien" snowman (Luke said it was an alien), made a few more snow angels and had a snowball fight. Luke cracked up when the snowballs hit him and tried to sneak up on Shaun a few times. Then the big kids started an official snowball fight with teams and mounds of snowballs in the field next to us and Luke watched from the fence. It was so sweet. One of his favorite books is The Snowy Day by Ezra Keats and Luke lived out so many scenes from that book yesterday. Walking in the snow, making prints and listening to the noise snow makes... I thoroughly enjoy observing Luke as he embraces the little adventures in his life and our Snow Day was no different. He didn't slow down until he laid down last night.

How beautiful! Wish we could have some snow like that. I miss NC. We had 2 or 3 really big snows while we were there. Loved it.
