So happy to be at the beach!
Luke's discovery... the little caterpillar
Serious "work" at the beach
Family time
There is something about the beach... relaxing, the water, the new discoveries, and just being together... It all seems to add up to quality time together and one happy little boy. Luke loves going to the "beach home" as he calls it. He enjoys the different toys he has there, the friends we see on High Point Street (Holden Beach), the "baquarium" (aka the Aquarium at Fort Fisher), the waves, the sand, etc. This past weekend visit was no exception. Luke goes two speeds: 0 or 100mph. This pace is very evident at the beach. Friday, we explored the house, rode the NC Ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher, covered the entire aquarium, and then headed to Wilmington for authentic German food at the German Cafe on the river. There were many highlights of the day. For me personally, it was watching Luke absorb everything he could at the aquarium. He was especially pleased with the caterpillar he found and bonded with while there. Thankfully, he was content to leave the caterpillar behind when it was time to go. Of course, I also enjoyed my strawberry torte at The German Cafe... it's a toss up. Saturday, we headed to the beach and played until Luke could hardly keep his eyes open. His wonder at all there is to take in is so fun to observe. Somehow, between all this Luke had time to fish a little with his daddy, eat fresh strawberries on the porch with Bebop, see dolphins swimming in the waterway, and rock in the rocking chairs while watching the sunset! Now, we're back at home trying to recuperate from all the hard play and he's already asking to go the beach home. Hopefully, it won't be too long before we head back down for another weekend of sun and sand!
