Luke with Papa and Nana
I have to say that Luke had quite the 3rd birthday. (Though, if you ask him he is four). Wednesday morning, his actual birthday, we celebrated with birthday breakfast and Luke took cupcakes to preschool. We then headed to the airport to pick up Papa and Nana. Thursday night, Luke's great-aunt Judy arrived from Tennessee and we had a family party with both sets of grandparents and Judy. There was much excitement and over-stimulation. Luke of course, was thrilled with his gifts and all the attention. He was a bit concerned over the fact there was no birthday cake... I was saving that one for his party on Saturday. It is possible to have too much sugar and too much cake in one week. Much to my dismay we woke up to rain and cold Saturday morning but were able to move his party inside and all was well. Luke was ecstatic over his giant bouncing thing and his race car cake. Everyone seemed to have a nice time and the only tears came as Luke realized people were eating his "racetrack!" These birthday events occurred in the midst of trips to the museum and Sci-Works with my parents and Judy. Luke's week (and mine) was packed full of activity and fun. I'm sure we'll have a bit of a let down this week and we must get back to business as usual. All in all it was a great week. Though it is possible Luke will not remember this week as he grows up, I hope it will make a lasting impression on his sweet spirit that he is loved and blessed beyond measure with family and friends and he has the capacity to have so much fun!

Great blog. I loved the pictures. Luke does look so grown up in those pictures. I'm sure for you it's bitter sweet. You want him obviously to grow up, but sad too cause he's your little boy. :) At least he's growing up for now since #2 is on her/his way and you'll enjoy all the help he gives! So thankful to have friends like yall! Glad you had a great time with your family!!
